Guys, Last thursday I could not access BT mail from outlook 2011 for mac. All has been well up to that point. I can noe only get directly onto My BT, and directly onto BT mail, but not via outlook, where I manage all my E mails; with filing going back years and back ups etc. I get '(auth) invalid user or password' error message. I tried deleting the account and re-opening it.
My current setting are: incoming / outgoing server mail.btinternet.com incoming port 995 Use SSL ticked outgoing port 110 Use SSL not ticked. I've tried re- entering passwords and BT ID, but never get in via outlook. If I tick SSL for outgoing I get error message below: rgout03.bt.lon5.cpcloud.co.uk ESMTP Service ready Have tried BT helpline to no avail spotted the BT announcement about E mail being an issue for some customers last thursday- but they seem to imply it's all OK now!! Any help gratefully received. Hi, thanks for helping out. I've altered the outgoing server to:465 Same problem - same error message. (AUTH) invalid user or password settings are: Incoming Server & outgoing mail.btinternet.com incoming settings: port 995 override default port - not ticked Use SSL - ticked Always ue secure password - not ticked Ougoing settings; port 465 override default - ticked Use SSL - ticked Reckon I've tried every combo!!
- but still the same error message. Managing the day to day stuff directly on BT mail, but all my history and file structures are sat on my Mac within Outlook 2011 Any other suggestions?
Hi, I've just gone back into My BT, spotted a message saying ' I have yet to confirm my ID as my primary ID' - which I have now done. I've gone and changed the 'My BT' password. Exited all BT on line systems, gone back into outlook for MAC and entered the new password, and hey!, I've got in, and downloaded 40 e mails sitting on the server. Don't really see what I've done, except confirm my primary ID, which the BT blurp says is only for accessing extra services, and nothing else. Also don't quite see how I 've been using it for the last few months without issues - but, never mind, we are again working as we wish. Thanks for your help.
